One night as we walked along a road to the study site we found this adorable sleeping bee. Needless to say we let it bee...(couldn't resist, I apologize for the terrible pun).
Fun fungi continue to pop up throughout the fall, with a wide variety of colors:

Other fun critters from last fall include a worm snake:

And one night I put my hand on a tree and came up with a spring peeper! Extremely unexpected find!
No post would be complete without a plethora of salamander pictures. Many were climbing. Some other work I have been doing suggests they might climb more in the fall because the air is cooler, making it easier for them to be off the ground and not lose water. We shall see if the pattern continues this fall! (so far it has been really dry so not much is out at all, much less climbing.

Since we work at night I don't always get to see the leave change but here are couple pictures I managed to get :)
